Frequently asked questions
When and where does the choir rehearse?
The Salt Lake Symphonic Choir rehearses on Thursday nights from 7:00-9:00 p.m. For our Christmas season we rehearse from the beginning of September to the middle of December, and for our spring season we start again in early January and continue until the spring concert series, usually in early June.
Rehearsals are currently held at the Salt Lake Parleys LDS Stake Center.
1870 Parleys Canyon Blvd, Salt Lake City, UT 84106.
What commitments are expected of members?
Choir members are expected to maintain a 75% attendance record for weekly rehearsals over a season, and must be in attendance for dress rehearsals and concerts. Learning music at home between rehearsals will also be necessary, and to assist, the choir will provide practice recordings.
The choir is funded in part by Spring concert ticket sales and members are required to help by selling a small quantity of tickets to family and friends.
How often does the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir perform?
The choir usually performs two concerts in each of its Christmas and spring seasons, with occasional additional performances, often in collaboration with local orchestras and other musical organizations.
Do members have any financial obligation to the choir?
An annual membership contribution helps us pay for sheet music, venue hire and the professional musicians we employ for concerts. This season, membership is $50 per Christmas or Spring semester, or a single payment of $90 for the full year.
Concert wardrobes are purchased directly from the choir. The women’s complete wardrobe is currently $100, and the men’s is $150.
